ACF-2m Power Conditioner

Specifications

The biggest problem faced by an audiophile is the presence of unwanted "components" on the AC line. (i.e., RF and DC). Since most audio equipment is powered by a toroidal transformer of some kind, it is very important that the AC line be free of any DC "component."

DC, you ask? Yes! DC is present in some amount on all AC lines. Unfortunately, it has an enormous detrimental effect on toroidal transformers.

Just 0.1 volt of DC present on the AC line will have adverse effects on the power transformer. We have tested a 1000 va transformer by introducing 0.1 volt DC to the AC line. Here is what we found: The transformer drew 0.1 amps AC at idle, but with the DC present on the line, the transformer's idle current rose to 0.95 amps! That is 12 watts vs. 114 watts at idle, which translates into an almost 10-fold increase in power consumption. Also physical noise went from -86 db to -65 db.

This DC "component" can come from many places like motors, dimmers, air conditioners, etc. There is no easily efficient way to remove it. There are power conditioners out there, but either they do not remove the DC "component," or they are a switching type of conditioner which are too inefficient to run modern high-powered amplifiers. Usually these power conditioners are less than 65% efficient.

We have addressed these issues with a line filter called ACF-2m, available in 2500 va output. As an amplifier manufacturer trying to build the best possible sounding products, we are aware that any product cannot perform to its highest level when one of the design parameters is beyond your control. It's like building a Ferrari and then outfitting it with bias-ply tires. Through special transformer design, special filtering and common sense, Edge has put together a power conditioner NO audio system should be without. The only power conditioner capable of running high-power amps and addressing the RF and DC "component" on the power line.

The ACF-2m is also available with an optional 12v trigger and delay.

If you have an audio system, you need an EDGE ACF-2m.
